Parrots — Lost or Found

If you have lost a parrot, you should:

 

1) Call the ASAP at 01 34 83 56 52.


2) Warn the relevant authorities (police, Société protectrice des animaux – S.P.A, veterinarian, ASAP) with your bird’s ID papers readily at hand.


3) Alert your neighbourhood to look out for the missing bird
.


4) Post announcements in your immediate area (signs, stores, etc.) and media (newspapers, internet, etc.).


5) As owner, you should of course produce the documentation proving your ownership to the individual(s) who find your bird.

 

If you have found a parrot, you should:

 

1) Close all of your doors and windows to prevent another escape.


2) Give the bird water to drink and food to eat: apples, sweet (non-salted) cookies (NO chocolate), biscuits (but not bread), grains for parrots.


3) Alert the fire department, town hall, veterinarians, the police, and the ASAP at 01 34 83 56 52.


4) If the parrot has a ring, take down the number. NEVER REVEAL THIS RING NUMBER to anyone other than the relevant bodies designated above as it is intended to help identify the owner.


5) Remember that this parrot has an owner who possesses the papers to trace its origin.


6) Do not return the parrot before the transfer
document including the ring number has been produced and the identity of the owner has been verified with his/her ID card (retain photocopies of these documents after returning the bird to its owner).
